Advice and Support

At Dalginross House, we understand that transitioning to a care home can be a significant change for both residents and their families. Our Advice and Support page is here to provide helpful information and guidance to make this process as smooth and reassuring as possible.

Welcoming New Residents

Welcoming New Residents: We are committed to ensuring that every new resident feels comfortable and at home from the moment they arrive. Our dedicated team provides a warm welcome and personalised orientation to help residents settle in. We offer:

  • Personalised Welcome Plans: Tailored to each resident's needs and preferences, ensuring a smooth transition.
  • Family Involvement: Encouraging family members to participate in the settling-in process to provide additional support.
  • Orientation Activities: Introducing new residents to our community, staff, and fellow residents through engaging activities and social events.

Paying for Care

Paying for Care: Understanding the financial aspects of care can be challenging. We provide clear and comprehensive information to help you navigate the costs associated with residential care. Our support includes:

  • Ways of Paying for Care: There are several options for paying for care in Scotland, including self-funding and local authority funding. A financial assessment will determine your eligibility for these options
  • Care Home Funding: In Scotland, personal and nursing care are free for those assessed as needing them. The local council will contribute towards these costs, but you may need to cover accommodation and living expenses based on your financial assessment.
  • Allowances and Benefits Available: Residents may be eligible for various benefits, such as Attendance Allowance, Pension Credit, and Personal      Independence Payment. These benefits can help cover care costs and improve financial stability
  • How to Access Care Home Funding: To access funding, you will need a care needs assessment followed by a financial assessment conducted by your      local council. This process will determine the level of support you are entitled to and how much you will need to contribute

Information About Dementia

Information About Dementia: Dementia can be a complex and challenging condition. We offer valuable resources and support to help residents and their families understand and manage dementia. Our information includes:

  • Understanding Dementia: Comprehensive guides on the symptoms, progression, and types of dementia.
  • Care Approaches: Insight into our specialised dementia care practices and person-centred approaches.
